Thoughts on managing a library

I was feeling like a slug. Another day, planning activities for my staff, and then sitting back to see how they did, occasionally checking with them, and otherwise spending lots of time ordering new material for the library.

Anyone who came by saw me leaning back in my comfy leather chair, idly leafing through book catalogs, apparently doing nothing. (Every now and then I would actually write up an order card.) And then, there were my breaks,my lunch, reading the morning paper, reading the evening paper----what an easy life! And I felt guilty.

But no more!

After reading Will Manley's latest column in Booklist, I feel as though I actually have a handle on this management stuff. I don't do the work--they do the work. Read all about it.
