Fencing event in Coppertree: ideas wanted

Hey, gang, our Shire wants to hold a fencing event next spring. We're looking at June. Since we share a border with Concordia, we'd like to have an event that will appeal to Easterners as well as AEthelmearcians.

Any thoughts? Suggestions on date, what to do at the event, what you would like to see?

The site would be the same as AEthelmearc Academy, the Madison County Fairgrounds.
It has lots of space indoors and out; a giant pole barn that could be curtained off for a maze; the site is wet; there are flushies & hot showers; lots of flat, grassy camping space, and spacious buildings with electricity.

Your ideas would be very much appreciated!

Weekend

Our Shire of Coppertree roused itself out of torpor and did a demo this weekend. It was pretty nice! Dan and Kenhelm brought one of the canvas-covered carports they used at Pennsic to merchant with Isabella so there was lots of room for everybody.

Kenhelm was making armor on an anvil; Rowan had cookbooks, Rowena was weaving and embroidering, Isabeau brought a lovely gown to display on a dressmaker's dummy, and our buddies from the Kingdom of Newgarrd had children's activities going on.

There was a huge list field so we had many people fighting or having small children try to smack them with boffers.

I added to the color by strolling around, checking out the shopping and the beer tent (all Saranac!) Supporting the local merchants is always good. In a small way, it was like Pennsic with merchants, food tents, and other costumed reenactors, namely the 18th-century dudes from nearby Fort Stanwix National Park.

Today is for more mundane stuff like groceries, laundry, and trying out a baked brown rice recipe from my man, Alton Brown.

Monday, back to the library, where it's Banned Books Week! I will make a display with all of our deviant books, just because I can.
